OverHalo

Claims and testing

What we claim, and what we don’t.

OverHalo is in development. This page is the limit of what anything else on this site means.

Claims

Claims we make

  • OverHalo is in development. No Pod has been built or installed yet.
  • Nothing is attached to, fitted to or powered from the car.
  • The Pod is designed to close and lock a clear enclosure over a parked car, operated by the valet from a phone and sized to that car.
  • It is designed to keep rain, dust, sun and falling debris off the car, and to cool or heat the air inside.
  • Every dimension, time and temperature on this site is an engineering target.

Claims we don’t make

Hail rating
The panels are impact-resistant polycarbonate, but no hail test has been run. We will not say it survives hail until one has.
Wind rating
The wind limits are calculated, not tested. A published rating needs testing.
Temperature
Interior temperatures shown in the app and the diagrams are illustrations, not measurements.
Theft or break-in resistance
Locked is not theft-proof. We do not claim a security rating.
Ballistic protection
None. OverHalo is not armour.
Insurance benefit
We do not claim any insurer will reduce a premium.
Prices, earnings and dates
Prices ($100 an hour, 3-hour minimum, 20% valet gratuity) are launch pricing. Venue earnings and scenario nights are illustrations, not forecasts. No launch date is set.

The images

The pictures and films on this site are design visualisations of the intended product, not photographs of a built Pod. The app screens show the intended design.

Regulatory position

Powered equipment near people, on private property.

Nothing attaches to the customer’s car, so the car is never modified. The Pod stays at the venue on private property, placed there with the venue’s agreement; it is not driven on public roads.

It is powered equipment that moves beside people. The rules that apply are the ones for automatic gates and doors: UL 325 and ASTM F2200 in North America, and the machinery rules and EN 12453 in Europe, where it will carry CE marking. Each spot’s power supply is installed by a licensed electrician to local code.

This is our engineering position, not legal advice, and it will be confirmed by a regulatory consultant before any Pod is put into service.

The test programme

What has to be proven before launch.

Entrapment and pinch. Presence sensing, force limits and reversal on every moving edge, to the gate standards. The most likely real injury, so it comes first.

Power loss. Manual release inside and out, with no power at all.

Wind. The anchored limits, measured rather than calculated.

Heat, cold and condensation. Interior temperature in strong sun and deep cold, and overnight dew-point control, measured.

Impact. Hail and vandal impact on the panels.

Wheels and rails. Thousands of moves and rail extensions on real paving without binding, loosening or leaking.
